Since its inception in 1998, the Cavalok system has been manufactured from recycled plastics, the predominant material being PVC. In 2004 when the brand became a company in its own right we set ourselves a target to separate our products environmentally from other systems in the market.

Following two years of extensive research and development we were finally able to source a sustainable material which had traditionally been destined for landfill sites. This material was post consumer waste.

Post consumer waste is derived from old PVCu windows and doors which are removed from buildings when replacement products are fitted. The various materials used in the make up of a window are then separated into their individual components for recycling. The PVC is cleaned, reprocessed and extruded into cavity closer frames.

What are the benefits of using post consumer waste in the manufacture of cavity closers?

In December 2006, the government issued a new directive to the building industry in the form of a document called The Code for Sustainable Homes. This set out targets for improving energy efficiency in new structures over the next 10 years, offering credits to builders who use sustainable and energy efficient products. Cavalok is the first in its field to offer 100% post consumer material in its range making Cavalok the only sustainable cavity closer choice.
